ABC – Ocean Blue (UK 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985

“Ocean Blue” is a song by the English new wave band ABC that was released as the fourth single from their third studio album How to Be a … Zillionaire!

The song peaked at No. 51 on the UK Singles Chart; the song failed to chart on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The single was the only single from the album not to chart on the Hot 100; their next single to chart there would be “When Smokey Sings” the following year.

Yay! This is one of my favorite singles ever! I have the vinyl, but nowhere as clean of a transfer as you’ve done here! 🙂

Thanks Paul!

One of my favorites from them. Ironically, the only Ocean Blue I like better is the track from Secession, but that never had a single release, and the actual ocean scares me. 😀

If this is the beginning of a rash of ABC postings, I’m all in.

Paul, it’s like a musical lottery with you in that we always get a winning jackpot from all the postings. I’m constantly surprised and delighted by your choices. I’m so psyched to hear this. You’re just monumental with what you deliver. We are all so lucky!!

Thank you,

Jeff

Ditto. Were you gone, Paul, we’d all sink into deep depressions. Sometimes you are the sole bright point in a day. 🙂

Paul you’re a gem. The Pacific Mix is hard to find, and has never appeared on cd before. But your vinyl rip is awesome!

Hi Omar. Actually the single Pacific Mix is on the 2005 remaster of Zillionaire. https://www.discogs.com/ABC-How-To-Be-A-Zillionaire/release/619849

I thought the single mix and the Pacific mix were slightly different. On the Pacific Mix the female voice yelling at 2.25min is omitted from the standard single mix.

I’ll be darned, you are right Omar! I stand corrected. What a subtle distinction. I’m now correcting my music library to differentiate the Single Mix from the Pacific Mix.
