DISCO FRIDAY!
“Boogie Oogie Oogie” is a song by disco group A Taste of Honey. Released from their self-titled album in 1978, it became an extremely popular “crossover” song. The lyrics urge listeners to “boogie oogie oogie till you just can’t boogie no more.” It topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the Hot Soul Singles chart, and the Hot Dance Club Play chart. It would eventually sell over two million copies and has become one of the most recognizable songs from the late 1970s disco era. It would also help the group win the Grammy Award for Best New Artist of 1978. It also reached #3 on the UK Singles Chart.

Fabulous post n’ ‘top tune’ Disco or otherwise ! Just to add to the Haywoode info. Getting Closer was a Single, & for a Looong while she held the ‘record’ for appearances on BBC’TV’s ‘Top Of The Pops’. Slightly unbeat-able tho, as she was a dancer on many B4 ‘Singing’ (as a Chart entrant) That’s all I know ’bout her, appart from quite famously falling off a stage “amid some cruel cackles” as the article said !

You are right Gianni. That is one reason that I bought this single was because it included the original as well as the remix. I love that John Luango didn’t stray to far from the original production. Btilliant work 🙂

Yes, I remember Haywoode’s version, though hers was not as supreme as the original. Having said that, Roses is one of my top singles of 1985! Paul, you should check out that single. Think you’d like Haywoode, though she might be one of those ones where you had to be there then to appreciate it now. Not heard her for years, and it does just sound very ‘influenced’ by all the other US 1985/86 stuff going on back then. 😀

Thought I’d put my two bob’s worth in about Haywoode. My own limited knowledge is that she done some recordings with Stock Aitken Waterman (including the original of “Getting Closer” which Kylie Minogue also recorded in her early days at PWL).
Might be worth noting too if you weren’t aware, that Bananarama’s “More Than Physical” borrows it’s bassline from Boogie Oogie Oogie.
Didn’t realise that factoid Ray, gonna give them both a closer listen.
More Than Physical is one of my Nana faves, thanks to the scene in Rita, Sue & Bob Too. 😀
