Visage – Night Train (US 12″ Promo)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1982

A. Front

“Night Train” is the sixth single by the British pop group Visage, released by Polydor Records in June 1982.

The song was the second single from the band’s album The Anvil. It was remixed for the single release with the assistance of John Luongo. “Night Train” and “Whispers” (another track from The Anvil), were used in Japanese adverts for TDK tapes in 1982. “Night Train” peaked at number 12 in the UK and was the band’s final UK Top 40 hit until a remix of their first hit “Fade to Grey” was released in 1993.

Exciting for me as a fan that Hot Gossip dancers Lorraine Whitmarsh & Perri Lister sing back-up on this record.

I always considered this the weakest of their main singles; even more than Tar. To this day, Fade To Grey and The Damned Don’t Cry are their high points…well, maybe The Anvil too. 😉

A disappointing release by Visage, but then “Fade To Grey” remains a classic..

Night Train is a bland electronic disco fodder type release (IMHO), but is not bad by any means, just lacks being memorable.

AS always, thanks for the up Paul.
