BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1984
REQUEST
**Great quality control by MCA Records. I bought this record for the requester thinking it included the “Extended Version” as shown on the sleeve and labels. However once playing it I discovered it was only the 4:00 version. Also the “Instrumental Version” is not listed on the sleeve or labels. Really irritates me that I could not deliver what I had planned. I will have to find another copy that actually contains the “Extended Version” for a later post.**
“Mr. Telephone Man” is a 1984 song by New Edition, and the second single from their eponymous second album, New Edition.
“Mr. Telephone Man” included lead vocals from Ralph Tresvant, Ricky Bell and Bobby Brown with a rap by Michael Bivins and was written by Ray Parker, Jr. The song was originally recorded by teenage singer Junior Tucker, who included the song on his self-titled debut album on Geffen Records in 1983. It is almost exactly the same song as Parker’s earlier hit “A Woman Needs Love”. He also produced the original version as well as the cover by New Edition.
The single reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and was the group’s third number-one single on the Black Singles chart.

after 2 days thanks to you finaly i find the clear instrumental no any vocals!!!!!
amazing music in my life.
Hola Pault no olvides publicar la otra remezcla, muchas gracias.
Gee-wizz, Paul. Now you’ve mentioned Ray Parker’s A woman needs Love, it’s hauntingly the same. Stock Aitken And Waterman, Modern Talking, Pitbull, and in some ways Meatloaf – eat your heart out. But as long as it nicely done and the sleeves are cool, who cares 😉 Sound is deep, low and asking for sampling, thanx again Paul.
Sorry escribi mal pault
Hola paula grandioso post lo buscaba hace mucho tiempo muchas gracias
Sometimes the lack of quality control works in our favor. Like when you posted David Bowie’s “Cat People” and it was actually much longer than the sleeve said, but yeah it is irritating. I’ve bought a few singles on E-bay that weren’t what they said also so I feel your pain!
tks Paul!
the other remix paul please!!!!!

Hi Radema I explained what happened with this release above. I will be posting the other remix soon.
Hey, if a whole 12″ side is devoted to just the one song, it will almost surely be the highest quality pressing of this song on vinyl! Best signal-to-noise ratio, at least…well worth the effort and expense.
Yeah I know Mjb. The label really messed up this release I was unaware of the “extended version” mistake as it wasn’t listed on Discogs. I have fixed the release on Discogs so maybe someone else won’t have the same issue. I have ordered a copy of the US 12″ promo to replace this one.
Keep your chin up! I appreciate your efforts 😎
Thank you Woz I will 🙂
First things first, I love the cover art for today’s and yesterday’s postings Paul. You showcase the best artwork for our favorite records. Thanks for binging this record back to our present conscious. You’re the best!
Jeff
Thanks Jeff. It’s been a kind of a rough day first my internet provider was down most of the day so that put me behind schedule. Then I realized as I explained above that the record sleeve and labels listed the mixes incorrectly aardh. So I kind of feel that this post was a waste of time. I will have to buy another copy that actually contains the “extended version”. Oh well it happens.
It’s such a shame Paul. I’m so sorry to hear of things going all wrong for you. It’s been one of those days for me as well. Maybe there’s something happening astrologically that’s affecting the day. Who knows! Please know that I’m really happy to have this pristine rip from you. You work so hard and every effort you put forth I value more than you’ll ever know. I hope the rest of the day and week for that matter goes smoothly for you Paul.
Most sincerely,
Jeff
