KC & The Sunshine Band – KC’s Miami Sunshine Mix (Europe 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1987

KC and the Sunshine Band is an American disco and funk band which was founded in 1973 in Hialeah, Florida. Their best-known songs include the hits “That’s the Way (I Like It)”, “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty”, “I’m Your Boogie Man”, “Keep It Comin’ Love”, “Get Down Tonight”, “Boogie Shoes”, “Please Don’t Go” and “Give It Up”. The band took its name from lead vocalist Harry Wayne Casey’s last name (‘KC’) and the ‘Sunshine Band’ from KC’s home state of Florida, the Sunshine State. The group had six top 10 singles, five number-one singles, and a number two single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

This 12″ was only released in Europe and includes a nine-minute megamix along with a special 1987 remix of KC’s 1984 hit “Give It Up” which peaked at #18 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in March 1984.

Thank you, PaulT, for the KC & the Sunshine Band mix. KC & the Sunshine Band was always a guilty secret of mine as well. Their music is (was?) infectious and they had a good sound that made a person want to dance. Or in my case, something that might pass for dancing (or not). I agree with an earlier poster who wrote that the mix isn’t nearly long enough. Yes, KC is like a favorite snack. You can’t hear “just one” track. Must have More tracks, and longer, because it’s sooo good! Sorry to hear you had drama over… Read more »

Hi paul,

how fun, to have a KC song and megamix. they did have several
disco hits back in the day, and i remember hearing them on the
radio.

although, most of the songs sounded exactly the same, except for
the ballads. i wish the megamix was a lot longer. those minute to
minute and half snippets are way too short.

thanks for the exclusive mixes. check out youtube, there are a lot
better megamixes on there for KC.

Love the new design, Paul. Was it time again? Well, time really flies… 😉
Love the oldschool MegaMix as well. Most enjoyable edits that should be to Jeff´s liking, too. 🙂

Have a great weekend, everybody. Be safe, stay healthy.

Yes, editing means so much to me Song And Dance. When done right they sound like drum fills and all those beats make me think I’m in a percussive pin ball machine!! You’re such a great guy and I wish you happiness always Song And Dance!!

Have a fantastic week!

I’m over-the-moon that you’re back Paul. Having your site down put a lot into perspective for me. You see, I really believe that we should never take you/Burning The Ground for granted in any way. And not to say that any one of us does, but we should all reflect on the joy you’ve given us day to day, and over the years. You provide such a refuge and a smorgasbord of “Ear Comfort Food” to whet our musical appetites. Thank you Paul for all you’ve done and for what you will ever do!!! I am so excited over this… Read more »

There’s just something about KC & The Sunshine Band that makes one want to get up and dance. There sound is unique but yet simple and just simply screams PARTY. I have several other KC 12″ers in my collection but was unaware of this one.

Thanks Paul for letting this one out of the vault. I may try to find a good copy of this one and do my own transfer of it.

A Dutch party here, starring Peter Vriends. Don’t think I know this ’87 production. Very nice to see you back on track with your website Paul. Hope the turmoil didn’t cost you too much energy….
