Scanner Malfunction

Posted by DjPaulT on April 21st, 2017

Hi guys,

So sorry for the late post I have been dealing with scanner issues all morning. My scanner has decided to stop scanning colors accurately so I am going to have to spend some money and purchase a new one. Luckily my local Best Buy stores do carry an over sized A3 scanner at a reasonable price. I am going to go pick up one today or tomorrow depending on the weather which has been extreme today very heavy rain. I also want to let you know that I will not be posting on Monday because I have doctor appointment. If everything goes well with the scanner i will post on Tuesday.

I really hope you all have a great weekend.

Oh no Paul, sorry to hear your technology woes.

Are you sure it’s not a corrupt driver or library on your PC? Have you tried connecting the scanner to another machine for a quick test?

BTW am curious what oversize scanner you have in mind? When I last looked at A3 Scanners they were crazy expensive. :-/

Good luck with getting it all sorted. 🙂

Yeah I have checked everything it’s about time for a new one I have had this one for about ten years Brother no longer updates it. The one I am looking at is a Epson WorkForce WF-7610 Wireless Color All-in-One Inkjet Printer with Scanner and Copier it’s about $220.00.

    Hey Paul
The WF-7610 is excellent, I can only recommend it. It´s much cheaper over here though 🙂
145€, that´s roundabout 160$ incl tax. Maybe only the names are identical 🙂

Thanks Paul. I’d be really interested in a review once you get to grips with it. I hope it meets your high standards. I’ve looked on eBay and 2nd hand they’re the equivalent of $60! I wouldn’t even care if the printer works, just want to be able to scan album sleeves to the quality you achieve. 🙂

So sorry to hear that Paul. Technology can be so frustrating at times. I know you are such a perfectionist, so I understand. I hope everything works out. So sorry to also read about the extreme weather. Please stay home and out of it; I want you safe as I know others do too.

Thank you for an incredible week of posts, Paul. It’s been so much fun, like always. Have a great weekend and I hope the doctor’s visit on Monday goes well. I’m guessing it’s a follow-up to your recent surgery.

Have a nice weekend, Paul, and all the best for Monday. Bring me some pills, will you, as I will be bathed in cold sweat without your excellent posts 🙂

  5. Raymond Says:

Have a fabulous and (hopefully) relaxing weekend, Paul xo

Bummer, my printer died about 4 months ago. The oversize scanner bed is harder to find. You may save a few bucks here:
for about $185.50 and it is shipped to your door.

  7. Joey Says:

I ended up using Costco, but it was an HP… Personally I like the older printers, less controls by the software etc…

  8. Conner Says:

    You’re awesome.

  9. Angel Says:

Ok, Paul. I wish you a great weekend.

    Best regards

Be careful in the messy weather, Paul.

I am an Astrologer, and I must say, sounds like the current Mercury Retrograde might have something to do with electronics malfunctioning, more specifically your scanner. Let’s hope everything works out and goes smoothly for you Paul. Sorry to hear about the technical difficulties. Over here in Downtown San Francisco there was a power outage and everything went black earlier today! Yikes!

  12. Magnus Says:

Hope you have an Excellent weekend Paul and a really Good meeting with great News from the Dr.

  13. Harry Sanchez Says:

  14. John von Ahlen Says:

Thanks for all your hard work Paul. Hope everything goes OK at the Doctors. xx John.

    Hi Paul,

Have you ever thought of using a portable lightbox (Say 16″) and your smart phone instead of a scanner?

Here is a link for a light box for $29.
