Yowsah Paul!! It just thrills me with what you post. So many of these tracks I’ve heard about, but sometimes, never get the chance to hear them outright. I used to follow the trades and Industry tidbits during the 80’s and the 90’s. But, with a limited budget, I couldn’t get everything I desired. Thank you for providing me — all of us. actually — these awesome songs in gorgeous and breath-taking quality. So excited for the William Orbit mix because, well, I LOVE HIM!! You rock so much. Just today I treated myself and co-workers to your most artistic work with a compilation of your David Bowie 12-inch mixes. You just make me so euphoric!! Thanks again!! Truly!!!!

    Jeff

P.S. How was the Billy Joel show? I kept thinking about you and all. Hopefully, it was wonderful!!

That’s so cool Jeff hope your co-workers enjoyed the music. The Billy Joel concert was awesome! I was surprised he did not do anything from this album except “Uptown Girl” which I adore. It was Veterans day when we saw him and he paid tribute by bringing several veterans onto the stage. As you can imagine it was very emotional. Also on a side note my Dead Or Alive box set finally arrived on Saturday what a beauty complete with autographed print. I sure hope Edsel addresses all of the mistakes though.

Oh Paul!! I am so excited for you about the Dead Or Alive box set. I kept on thinking whether you received it yesterday, but you got it on Saturday!! It really is a gorgeous entity, isn’t it? I was so worried when you didn’t receive it awhile ago as you placed your order before mine. I am so happy about it Paul, and I do hope and pray we all get the replacement discs. I got my Marc Almond box set yesterday and that is a heavenly item too.

Great to hear about the Billy Joel concert. He’s quite the performer. Well, you have a fantastic day and thanks for your continued quest for giving us all the great 12-inches from the 1980’s and the 1990’s. You are superb in every way Paul!!

    Hugs!!

    Jeff

What a wonderful selection. One of my favorite songs from 1989. Thank you for posting this one, they definitely had that “Depeche-Mode-ish sound” to them. The album ‘Methods Of Silence’ is a great album. I still have it on cassette and CD.

  5. Time Operator Says:

“Love Is A Shield” is my favourite track from Camouflage. Especially the William Orbit mix which always eluded me until about 2 years ago when I finally managed to get it on CD. I loved the track back then and love it now! But of course, a DjPaulT FLAC version of the original 12″ is a true gift from you. Thank you so much for this.

I’ve always loved that William Orbit mix. He had a great little period there in the late 80s where he was doing lots of great mixes.

  8. Davos Via 45 Says:

This was one of the most popular Synth-pop songs of the late 80s in Europe!
The Depeche Mode influence is especially notable in the b-side track The Story Of The Falling Fighters. Cool remix by William Orbit, interestingly I have this best of compilation https://www.discogs.com/Camouflage-Best-Of-Camouflage-We-Stroke-The-Flames/master/391814 on which the Orbit mix is wrongly labeled as the Orbit Dub Mix.
The real Orbit Dub Mix is 7.35 long https://www.discogs.com/Camouflage-Love-Is-A-Shield/release/735016

  9. Song And Dance Says:

The proof that you can have hit records without the slightest hint of a singing talent. Well, Camouflage were not the first and they certainly will not be the last to achieve that. An achievement you have to respect. They had massive hits over here and a considerable following. Always hated that song particularly but who am I to judge… 🙂

    “Luff issa shiiiiielt
    Tooo Hite Behint…”
    🙂

It is the first time I listen to this song and I must confess that I loved it.
