Billy Joel – Keeping The Faith (Special Mix) (US 12″ Promo)

Posted by DjPaulT on November 11th, 2016

After all of the disappointment of the last week there is one bright point I am going to see Mr. Joel this evening in concert. Remember no matter where you are from or who you love keep letting your voice be heard. Keep The Faith!

“Keeping the Faith” is a song by rock singer-songwriter Billy Joel, released from his 1983 album An Innocent Man. It reached #18 on the main US Billboard Hot 100 chart and #3 on the US Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. The song was the only single from the album that failed to chart on the UK Singles Chart, despite the success of An Innocent Man in the United Kingdom.

“Keeping the Faith” is the last track on and final single from the album and the lyrics sum up Joel’s reason for creating the album, which hearkens back to the sounds and style of 1950s and early 1960s pre-British Invasion rock and roll music.

This promo 12″ contains the same mix on both sides.

Another great choice. Positive, however difficult it may be…

    DjPaulT Reply:

Thank you Jbird. Have a nice weekend 🙂

  2. Daniel Says:

Thank you so much for this wondeful rip. Keeping the faith! yes! that’s the right answer to all these bad news coming around these days. Just let the music play and let us feel a little bit better. I love the songs of Billy Joel especially these from early eighties. It would be fantastic if you could also post the Jellybean Remix of “Tell her about it”. Have a great weekend.

    DjPaulT Reply:

I will post that one soon Daniel. Thanks so much have a nice weekend 🙂

  3. Jeff Says:

Have a fantastic time tonight Paul!! I hear Mr. Joel puts on an amazing show. I hope the vibe this evening is one of positivity as we all need something inspiring during this time.

I am interested in checking out this special mix. Just curious though, is the label time listing incorrect? Sometimes durations can vary.

Have a terrific weekend Paul and many thanks for always making me feel like I have a sonic sanctuary to come to and forget about life for awhile.

    Your Friend,

Thank you Jeff yes the time is incorrect on the label. Hope you are feeling better. Have a great weekend 🙂

  4. Song And Dance Says:

Never heard that remix, thank you Paul. I don´t care very much for the album but the marvellous, marvellous track “An Innocent Man” and “Keeping The Faith” stand out long and tall.
Your rip of the quite massively remixed “KTF” sounds ten time better than the cd version.
Well done as always. Thanks again.

Thank you Song And Dance 🙂

  5. Aaron Says:

Great choice! I’ve never heard this one. Do you have the extended “single” version of “Sometimes A Fantasy”? The US 7″ and 12″ promo version was longer than the album version and has a cold ending.

  6. DaveR Says:

Thanks so much for sharing this! I’ve been looking for it for some time. This is the version that’s supposed to be on the My Lives box set. Thanks again. And Keep the Faith….

    Pat Cook Reply:

Awesome choice for what has become the end of a horrible week! DaveR, this IS the version off My Lives, but it’s labeled as single Remix, and a a few portions of it are edited out. The My Lives version is only 4:50. Here, you’re getting the full version.

    Dougie Reply:

Sorry, but this is not the version on the “My Lives” box set, which I have. This is the extended version of the 7″ single, also called the “Special Mix” on the label.

The version on the “My Lives” box set incorrectly labels it as the “12-inch version” which is supposed to be this record, but it’s actually a different mix altogether, with heavier basslines and horns sounding after each line that Billy sings, plus lots of background vocals. Someone posted it on YouTube years ago, but it was taken down (apparently by Sony).

  7. Morts Says:

I’m a Billy Joel fan and I am jealous that you’re getting to see him live! Enjoy the show!

  8. Davos Via 45 Says:

Definitely in the shadow of such monster hits as Uptown Girl and Tell Her About It from that album, nevertheless a nice song and a good mix. Can’t remember hearing that mix before. I’m to realistic to be keeping the faith. Paul don’t forget to report us your impressions from the gig, saw some great gigs of his from the 80s on the TV!

  9. Kurt B Reighley Says:

You inspire me daily with your commitment to music and community, more so this week than ever before. Thank you.

  10. rafael Says:

“Tell Her About It” 12″ please!!!!

  11. David Says:

Great choice. Hope you enjoyed the concert! I’ve seen him several times, and he puts on a great show. He rarely plays any of the big hits from this album- I’ve only heard “Uptown Girl” once- but this one and “Innocent Man” seem to be fairly standard. Thanks for all you do!

  12. Grant Says:

This is a huge find – thank you for taking the time to post this! Sending high fives!

  13. Jasons2 Says:

    Thank you very much Paul.
