BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985

a-front

“King For A Day” is a 1985 song by the British band the Thompson Twins. It was released as the third single from the band’s fifth album Here’s To Future Days.

It was written by Tom Bailey, Alannah Currie, and Joe Leeway. The single peaked at #22 in the UK, spending six weeks on the chart and would be the band’s final UK Top 40 hit. The single fared better in America where it peaked at #8 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and also peaked at #13 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart.

The B-side, “Rollunder”, was exclusive to this single with two versions; a shorter 7″ version and an extended version. It is a variation of the band’s song “Roll Over”, which was planned for release as a single earlier in 1985 but withdrawn from sale at the last moment.

And Paul, have you heard about the upcoming Edsel release? It’s a massive box set of DOA. You’d certainly be thrilled….

Yes I ordered it last night very exciting let’s hope that they do a good job on the mastering. They have not mentioned wether they used original master tapes.

Edsel did a perfect job on their previous reissues (no brickwall mastering), and they always use the first generation master tapes. No need to worry, I think.

Thank you Paul. I have the Edsel 2cd Here’s To Future Days which has all the remixes. But once again your vinyl mixes are the best!

    DjPaulT Reply:

Yeah I thought that the CD versions sounded a bit flat hopefully with the vinyl you can hear all of the music as it was intended especially in 24bit 🙂

Thompson Twins are awesome and King For A Day is pure class!

This is one of my favourite TT tracks. I remember this campaign being awesome – it even had three different music videos.

A rip of the 2x12inch USA Promo for Come Inside would be amazing – all the mixes are great and some are exclusive to this format only.

As someone else has already said, Sugar Daddy would be great…

In fact ANY TT would be great!

    Thanks loads!

    🙂

I just wanted to say thank you for all the amazing music that you unselfishly share. I don’t usually comment but I had to express my gratitude to you especially after you have been dealing with some serious issues and a few days later you are back with more great music. Thank you again, and most importantly, it’s great to know that you are in good health, and I’m sure that everyone here feels the same way.

Thank you Dan I appreciate the love so very much. The only way to get through difficult times is to bounce back stronger than before 🙂
