Willy Finlayson – On The Air Tonight (Germany 12″)

Posted by DjPaulT on August 4th, 2016

A. Front

“On The Air Tonight” is a 1984 single by Scottish singer Willy Finlayson. The song was released as a single in Europe and featured in the film “A Nightmare On Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge” but did not appear on the soundtrack. “On the Air Tonight” failed to chart but is still played on retro 80s radio.

If you are not familiar with this track I suggest you give it a listen it’s truly brilliant another one of my all-time favorites.

Thanks Paul. Great single. He looks like actor Val Kilmer on the cover a little bit doesn’t he?

    DjPaulT Reply:

You’re welcome Omar. Yeah I can kinda see Val in him 🙂

(So glad you did not mention Jim Morrisson..)
Great a very obscure one for me, never heared it as I know of. Thanx for the op, Paul.

I love when you describe your postings as “another one of my all-time favorites.” You have really presented so many wonderful tracks that I wasn’t too familiar with, if at all, that quickly became a brand new favorite of mine. Thank you Paul for these, such gifts they are. I can not wait to listen to this one this evening. Days are so much better with a DjPaulT musical masterpiece!!!

    DjPaulT Reply:

aww thank you Jeff you so sweet to me I appreciate you so much. I hope you like this one I am dying to hear what you think 🙂

Oh Paul!! The importance of who you are and what you do, really means so much. This record is beautiful. I found it hypnotic and haunting; it created images in my mind like a dream. Gorgeous musical atmospherics and impassioned vocals. Wow, I’m so swept away by it all. Thank you for continually showcasing music that deserves to be heard. I continually celebrate you because you archive records that need, that MUST be heralded because so much is lost and/or forgotten. You’re like a sonic Turner Classic Movies (TCM), preserving “soundtracks” to a generation of the ’80’s and the ’90’s listening (and dancing) audience. You are an artist, an architect of audio sculpture that gives life to our memories. Paul, you are a very unique and special individual. Thank you for being in our lives.

    Big Love,

Oh you are so welcome Jeff I am so happy that you liked this record. It amazes me that this wasn’t at least a top ten record.

Thank you so much Paul for this wonderful post. I’ve been waiting to get this rip in high-quality-sound for such a long time. Well, it was worth the wait. You make my day (it’s raining today in France) become such a wonderful and bright day!!! I’m also very glad to read that it belongs to one of your all-time favorites. This brilliant song was written by Pete Bardens who had also a solo career. He had a minor hit in 1987 with “In dreams”. His works including “On the air tonight” unfortunatelly didn’t get much success. I hope that people reading your post will give this track a listen and I’m sure many of them will appreciate because it’s a real masterpiece. And you Paul, you are my hero and will always be.

Thank you Daniel for the kind words. I do love the synths and the drums and Willy’s beautiful voice. Hope this brings some sunshine to a rainy day 🙂

    Daniel Reply:

Oh yes it does Paul. It makes the sun shine so bright! Just listened to the rips. The sound is pristine. I’m so happy right now, thanks to your fantastic work. For me BTG is like a fountain of joy. I wish this fountain will never stop.

But not in such brilliant quality.

    Thank you, Paul.

  7. S.corpion Says:

Wow… Thank you very very very much Paul.
If you believe it or not, last week i thought “hopefully will Paul digitized this lovely 12 Inch in the near future”. It’s crazy.. you are a mentalist ;o)
