BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1988

I thouight it would be fitting to post this megamix as the final record in my Prince tribute series. With such a prolific body of work it is hard to fit every masterpiece into one medley but at least we can look back on some of Prince’s greatest moments and smile.

“The Prince Mix” is a megamix created by Ultimix remix service and originally appeared on Ultimix Issue 25 (1988) and as part of a five 12″ compilation of the services best medley’s. The track was remixed by legendary remixer Bradley D. Hinkle who also remixed for Hot Tracks in the early 80’s.

Not planning to do any official Prince singles Neil due to his views on streaming and downloading his music 🙂

I too am rather vague sometimes, but Prince was very specific in that his views on music were universal, not just about his own productions 😉
Taking liberties is what life is about.
    But,
when they release official, buy that stuff, i would say.
Glad we all share what’s not official but meaned to hear.

Have you heard the ultimix where it’s a mashup of a couple of Sheila E. songs (“Too Sexy” and “Sister Fate”) and the Ready For the World track “Oh Sheila”? That one is probably my favorite. Haven’t heard it since the 80s though. That’s the impression it had on me.

Hi Matthew I havn’t heard that one if you can provide a link to it I will try to find a copy 🙂

    P.S. Says 1988, but it includes snippets from his 1992 “O(+>” album…

Very appropriate end of this sad celebration. Excellent megamix with a great sound quality! In Alphabet St. you can hear small parts of Sign “O” The Times.
Yes Prince, you will be forever a Star!

  14. Pat Says:

Nice job! I found this on another blog awhile back, but that version barely had any bass. It came on a record with an un-released 9 minute version of Batdance which also barely had any bass. He claimed it was from a bootleg, but I don’t know. Still, it was great to hear the full version of Batdance before it was edited for the soundtrack. At least now, I got a better copy of this mix. So sad about Prince. I just hope we get to hear some of that music in the vault sometime.
