As always Paul brilliant! I lived in Australia for 20 years and loved Koo De Tah. Sadly, I have never seen any CD issues of their stuff.

    I second King!

There are some great US promo only mixes which I would love in good sound. I really wished when Steps In Time was reissued in the US they featured these remixes. Sadly when SIT & Bitter Sweet were reissued in the UK in 2010 again these mixes were not included. King were an amazing band.

You know Paul, one of the things that thrills me everyday here on your site, is coming across so many 12-inches that I’ve seen in the shops at the time and/or have read about in the trades and not having the funds to purchase such products. You have been such a Godsend to me, if not the world, who have longed for certain mixes and could not find the way to have them at the time or even find them on compact disc compilations or even MP3s. You are such a miracle and I am and will always be forever grateful. Thanks so much for all the goodies, gifts and SURPRISES!! You are a celebration!!

    Cheers!!

    Jeff

This is one of my favorite singles Jeff it should have been a world wide hit in my opinion. But sadly on those from Australia or New Zealand know about this bend. There is so many obscure artists out there with fantastic work I love bringing it to a whole new audience. I hope this will become a favorite for someone else 🙂

Oh Paul, I just can’t resist this time. So often I thought about commenting but you’ve finally done it for me.

Yes indeed, it’s a pity Koo De Tah weren’t successful elsewhere in the world, despite all their recordings being remixed in Germany (which is why they sound so awesome). They are one of my favourite acts of the 80s.

I own just about everything they ever released, multiple copies of all four singles on 7 and 12, plus all three formats of the album. The CD of the album is worth hundreds, but you can get it in the “junk” folder of my website if you hurry.

Tina Cross also released two very rare singles in 1982/83 (“Losing Your Touch” and “which I’m yearning to find. There’s also a rumoured 1988 Koo de Tah track apparently called “Too Young (To Know)”, but I’ve never seen a copy in my 20 years of collecting.

Been following your blog for a while now and downloaded so many gems, many of which I already own but your mastering just blows my attempts out of the water.

Kudos on selecting a classic slice of Aussie pop. More!!!

If only there were a way of getting your collection to DJPaulT for some treatment . . .

That was my immediate thought when I saw his rip of this. He’s got “Body Talk”, but my fav is “Think of Me”, and the rare fourth single is “Missed You All Along”, which is the only one of the singles not to feature a non-album B side.

“Body Talk” has a longer version of the B-side “My Eyes Are Shut” on the 12″, so it will be good to get that.

    Grab the CD @ cd-wizz.com/junk

I’ve also got hundreds of other Aussie 12″ and I’d love to send a crate over there. You never know… it might happen one day.

Big fan of Koo De Tah. Tina did some new vocals a couple of years ago for some remixes, but nothing beats this original 80’s toon. Will be very happy to have Body Talk, too Paul, but would really love to have Think Of Me, which I adore 🙂 Thanks for the rip 😀

    JestaCat Reply:

The songs Tina did with DJ Stereolove are great, including the remake of ‘Too Young For Promises’. You’re probably right that it’s not as good as the original, but definitely a contender which deserved a wider audience.

Another 12″ pearl. I don’t know whats better song, sound or production. Only odd thing, it
sounds so European. I saw the movie a few times, but many years ago, don’t recall where in the movie this song turns up, and the song isn’t on the soundtrack. Music from the movie got huge radio airplay and the film itself was much more popular in my hometown then at the US box office.

    DjPaulT Reply:

I’m not sure where it is in the movie either Davos I havn’t seen it in years so I will have to watch it again 🙂

    Hi DjPaulT.

This is my first time commenting here. Thank you for the master rips and FLAC uploads!
I am from South Africa and can confirm that “Too Young For Promises” was a hit over here and not just in Australia and New Zealand. When I say ‘hit’, I can’t confirm the actual chart success over here but back then SA’s radio top 40 charts were not even based on record sales but more on airplay popularity and it had some radio play but not that much. It was however well known by mobile and club Dj’s and I used to hear it often at house parties, even years after the track was released. A firm favourite of mine even to this day! I have the 12” version on a vinyl compilation that was pressed and released over here but the quality is not great at all. This was very typical of South African vinyl pressings back then which made most Dj’s and music connoisseurs buy imported vinyl pressings even though it was much more expensive. But for those who were on a budget local pressings were the only choice (if they were even released here at all). Thanks for taking the time to rip these vinyl records and restore them to the point that they sound like they came from the original master tapes.
    A true art indeed!

Okay, I’m catching up and saving this for last because while I was away I saw this post and I had this huge smile of surprise. I was like, yes! Yes! Yes! Growing up, I’d record this version off the radio and hoping the radio deejay don’t cut it off. Now, I have the full album but not this version because the LQ versions that I have heard online, of course till now. 🙂
Thank you Dj PaulT for sharing this with us. I’ll also check the other Koo De Tah track that you posted on here, also, I’ll be donating to your fundraising request. 🙂
