Dolby’s Cube featuring Cherry Bomb – Hunger City (US 12″ Promo)

Posted by DjPaulT on August 6th, 2015

Side 1

“Hunger City” was slated as the second single to be released from the soundtrack of the George Lucas film Howard The Duck. Due to the film’s failure at the box office “Hunger City” was only issued as a 12″ promo in the US. Once again the track features actress Lea Thompson on lead vocals. “Hunger City” was produced, written and arranged by Thomas Dolby. The soundtrack has never been issued on CD.

The 12″ promo contains the same track on both sides.

These two Howard the Duck singles are unexpected. I remember having the movie soundtrack on cassette when I was a teen, even though the film was horrible. While the title track is a cheesy novelty song, Hunger City still holds up as a decent piece of Eighties nostalgia (like some of the tracks off Streets of Fire). I wish Hunger City had been given the full 12″ remix treatment. Thanks, Paul. Great rips (as always).

I agree with you Miran0019 this song should have gotten more attention from MCA I think it could have been a big hit 🙂
