Paul, you are AGAIN…..OUTSTANDING posting this. I remember when both songs of “Bangkok” were out, so many people said Robey had the better version. Of course, this was before the Murray Head version took over the charts. I know it was quite the rage in the clubs at the time and Robey was big on the supernatural drama “Friday the 13th – The Series” so it was an instant hit. I was able to get the CD when it first came out too, but I know Paul’s rip will put the disc’s sonic quality to shame. Oh Paul, I’m so happy you posted this version. It’s very, very good and so nice that we have both versions of “One Night In Bangkok” too. And for all those creative jocks out there, they can do a bang-up remix using the two records. Unbelievable Paul in what you have and then what you do to bring lost favorites to a new light. I just worship your talents more and more each and every day!!

When I first heard Robey’s version I didn’t like it because I had already become familiar with Murray Head’s version. Robey soon grew on me and it was a massive dance florr filler thanks in part to Shep Pettibone. Thank you Jeff as always 🙂

    Hugs.

Aaaah, the chorus is sung out of sync! Ii is hurting my ears. Rather strange Shep Pettibone didn’t ‘correct’ that. No, I’ll stick to Murray Head’s version. I wasn’t aware of this cover at all, so that’s a nice surprise, apart form the chorus that is 🙂 Great rip by the way, as usual I guess. Paulity forever!

It’s so great to listen to what you do Paul. All the effort and care that you put into each project, I was bursting in smiles and giggles while the music played. I really like this version, maybe not as much as Murray Head’s, but this is still very, very cool. I loved the dub mix as it had a better resolve than the A-side. The far eastern sounds and those fabulous violin stabs. Ah Shep, you are a marvel. And as mentioned by me in yesterday’s comments, it is so phenomenal that we now have all the elements that went into Lester Temple’s Hot Tracks mix. Oh Paul, you take me back to such marvelous times!! And you make the tracks sound even better than the way I remember them! I have received such an education here from you and your readers on what makes vinyl so spectacular. I love the discussion under your Michael Sembello post to “Maniac” because it really changed my perspective on things. With today’s current technology, vinyl has never sounded better, but it’s certainly you and your artistry in ripping the sounds from our beloved 12-inches that make us all take notice and fall in love all over again to our cherished favorites. Make that new favorites as well, ’cause you my friend have introduced me to some gorgeous dance mixes and remixes I wasn’t even aware of. You are the musical equivalent to an adult film star DjPaulT as all your 12-inches hit that “musical money shot” each and every time!! I absolutely SWOON all the time!!!

    With Intense Gratitude,

    Jeff

    Thanks for posting this! 🙂
I’ve been a fan since the F13th days & still think she’s one of the 80’s hottest babes. The music itself? Well what can I say? I do have the original vinyl though & it’s guilty entertainment. The show did manage to integrate the song “Killer Instinct” into an episode but surprising they didn’t try to use bangkok.

People are you deaf? This must be one of the most terrible cover versions I ever heard!
It sounds so cheap and crappy as if they recorded it live in a Karaoke bar. I can’t believe Shep has got anything to do with this!!!!!
The Murray Head US mixes are fine, but don’t even come close to the single version with the long intro which was a monster hit.
