Happy Independence Day 4th of July USA!

“America” (also known as “They’re Coming to America” or “Coming to America”) is the name of a patriotic song written and originally recorded by Neil Diamond, released on April 4, 1980 as part of The Jazz Singer soundtrack album. The song was a hit single in the United States in 1981, reaching number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 and was Diamond’s sixth number one on the Adult Contemporary chart. Billboard also rated it as the #62 pop single overall for 1981. Although the single version was a studio recording, it sounds live because of crowd overdubs in the song.

The “edited” single version is about one minute shorter than the LP version and has not appeared on CD as far as I know.

What an excellent way to usher in the Independence Day holiday weekend Paul! You always know the right song for the right occasion! I can’t wait to hear this one in all its patriotic splendor!! I’ll be definitely playing this one along with your fantastic rip of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born In The USA (Dub Version)” to get me in the mood for the 4th of July!! I think the dub is the best version with its own firework edits by The Latin Rascals. Whoa, there’s such a treasure trove of tremendous music on Burning The Ground Paul! Really!! Everyday here is like a holiday!!

Thanks for this week’s tunes! I have been having so much fun with the Karen Finley songs. I almost forgot how much fun “Lick It” is!!! Forgive me, but it really made my mouth water!! Sometimes, she reminded me of Kate and Cindy from The B-52’s. I could almost hear Fred coming in with something crazy!! Plus, these tracks reminded me of the outrageous Sweet Pussy Pauline and her comical musings!! Great stuff Paul, as always! You rock my friend!! Enjoy your weekend and thanks for all these musical fireworks!!

I fixed the tagging typo on track B2 if you want to download it again 🙂

The Jazz Singer is one of my favourite Neil Diamond albums. Such a great collection of songs, well produced and of course an excellent soundtrack for the movie. I never heard this edited version, so I’m curious were they cut that minute. Thanks for this post.

Enjoy Stefano. If you want re-download the files I fixed the typo on the tagging.

Great single and of course a very appropriate post.

Hope you all have a great Independence Day!

    Thanks Paul 🙂

Happy Independence Day Paul and everyone associated with Burning The Ground!! I hope everyone of us have a great day filled with love, laughter, great food and drink and incredible pyrotechnics!! Everybody stay safe too!! I think this day is so important especially with all the great things happening in the US at the time. If the Age of Aquarius is indeed upon us, now is the time for great change and for people of all nations to love one another.

I didn’t even notice the typo Paul, but I will download the track again. I had chills playing the record today along (as promised) the dub to “Born In The USA” by Bruce!! I could really imagine great fireworks displayed to this tune. Paul, thanks for this little piece of Heaven on Earth with BTG. You and what you do have done all these years have me bursting with love, memories and a fantastic friendship with you!!

    Cheers and Colorful Displays!!

Thanks so much for the incredible rip! I’ve never seen this version on CD. The single version of Hello Again from the same album is also different. Both versions are remixes, doing away with the orchestral intros.
