“So Much For Love” is a single by Australian synth-pop band The Venetians. “So Much For Love” scaled the Australian singles charts, peaking at number three on the national charts in March 1986. Chrysalis Records released “So Much for Love” in the United States which gained momentum when a Robert Racic/Stephen Orkins 12″ Club Mix b/w an extended Rock Mix reached number one on the Chicago Dance Chart. The single then went on to peak at #35 on the US Billboard Hot Danc/Club Play chart. On the Billboard Hot 100 the single peaked at #88 in February 1987.

    Oh wow. Is this one of the earliest Robert Racic mixes?

    I remember him as the producer and musician in industrial-noise-turned-pop-band Severed Heads, 1989-1996 (when he died). He was amazing then. If you have any Severed Heads, it’s well worth putting up, with a link to their Bandcamp which has everything they ever recorded up for sale with free previews …

    Also, here is the Venetians’ first hit in Australia, “Sound On Sound”. Unavailable on the face of the earth. (Festival Records went bust; Warner bought the recording catalogue, but have rereleased amazingly little of it.)
