Little mistake… “Dub Version” here is on B2 and “Robie” is on B1. On UK release is B1: “Warboys (Rough & Tough Mix)”. Also on other European release is B1: “War Boys (Rough & Tough Mix)”. Btw, for me this is her best track, beside a cover of Peggy Lee’s classic “Fever”. Thx, Paul!

Yeah Nikki I wondered about this I just stuck with how it was written on the sleeve and labels. They did quite a misprint on this record 🙂

OH MY GOODNESS PAUL!!! I am so covered in chills right now, that I’m actually covered in a thick frost!! I’ve been staring at my computer screen for about five minutes in a state of frozen exhilaration!! I am truly humbled! John Robie and all of his productions mean the world to me and I’ve been on this crusade to find as much as I can about him. Some of his stuff (more like his productions) have been released on compact disc, but things like this single, I don’t believe so. And I’m not quite sure it would sound the way it does in anybody else’s hands except yours!! I absolutely love this single. Annabella’s work with Bow Wow Wow was phenomenal, but because of Mr. Robie, this single is an incredible find. What you get with John Robie is over-the-top production and musicianship. John pulls out all the stops on this record. What I LOVE also about this 12-inch is all the people involved with Mr. Robie too. I mean, there’s Mark Berry who has worked with 80’s electo chanteuse Alisha and on other dance tracks as well. There’s also Manuel Parrish and Raul A. Rodriguez who worked with Mr. Robie on one of the ultimate electro records of all times, “Hip Hop Be Bop (Don’t Stop).” What a reunion this is. All the versions are superb and I just love that military chanting on the record. Such a great contrast to Miss Lwin’s kitten like vocals And that arsenal of electronics Mr. Robie brings to this record. Wow Paul, you are such the Master!! Like I’ve said before, you are no mere mortal, you are a GOD!!! I owe you so much for all of this music. I am really tearing up right now, but I can’t help it. THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!!

    Hugs and gratitude,

    Jeff

You’re welcome Jeff this is a really great 12″. Please note though the tracks on side b are in reverse order b2 is actually the “Dub Version” version and b1 is “Robie” aka “Rough and Tough Mix”.

Higs to you my friend and thank you 🙂

I’ve always wondered about that Paul myself. I’m surprised the record label wasn’t more careful with the listing. This record has all of the John Robie signature sounds, the keyboards, that emulator singing out War Boys, the bells, the saxophone, the crazy drum machine programing and those great edits John Robie is famous for. Such a cool track and your mastering skills are pristine. You’ve made my day, week and perhaps, month!!!

I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t even know Annabella Lwin had a solo career! Maybe she was bigger in the US than the UK?

Look forward to checkin it out.
