Released as a special red vinyl flexi disc in Japan 1984 British pop singer Howard Jones sends out a special Christmas and New Years message to fans. This special flexi disc was was released to the Japanese fans only, and Howard talks about his love of Japan, the new album and tour.

As with most flexi discs they often don’t sound that great. This flexi disc was in very nice condition. I made every attempt to make it sound as good as possible. Merry Christmas!!

Pretty cool novelty, back in the day I had one of these Christmas flexis but by Depeche Mode. Never heard this one before, thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas, Paul!

Certainly something you seldom see, let alone a rip of one. A nice novelty item for Xmas. Thanks!

Oh Paul, you are super about your posts. So nice to have something like this in our audio Christmas Stockings!! And I love Saturday posts – they are extra special. I really like this as it represents a nice time capsule of a moment in time. Thanks for the rarities my friend and Merry Christmas to you!!!

Omg you caught me out with this Saturday post.

Didn’t know it existed but love these kinds of things – the likes of Twitter makes these artifacts seem almost antique. I think you posted a Wham flexi message last christmas 😉 , and there’s the one on the gatefold b-side of that Paul Young 7″. Oh, and I think that Blondie flexi was Holidays themed. Would love to hear the Depeche one… will go on a hunt round the internet at work today. 😀

Ahh, Flexi Discs, they really are next to garbage sound wise, but I love them, since I was a child they have always seemed like some kind of mysterious treasure, like a hidden message. They are often rare and fold, warp, wear out easily and were often issued without a sleeve, treated like trash by their owners, and thus seem to be some of the hardest records to track down. In the early 80’s — the golden age of new wave — there were loads of them, like Flexipop!, those were some of the best. Yes, I believe Depeche Mode did one for flexipop! with and alternate version of Sometimes I Wish I Was Dead. Thanks for this one, never heard or seen this HOJO rarity before.
