Erasure – Indian Rubber Mega-Mix (US 12″)

Posted by DjPaulT on September 10th, 2014

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1990

Side 1

“Indian Rubber” is a megamix of Erasure hits released in 1990 by the US based bootlega label ON-USound. The label had at least 15 12″ releases. The majority of releases have single artist megamixes. Later on the label changed it’s name to to Euro-Mixx. This megamix is quite sought after by Erasure fans.

Please remember that this is a bootleg unofficial release therefore the sound quality is not always the best. I have restored this 12″ to the best of my ability. “Indian Rubber” was also released by ON-USound as a CD single but was taken directly from a vinyl source.

WOW! Paul, I think this is super rare! I have not seen this with their CD singles and i have most of them. I have heard of On U Sound with Depeche Mode but like you said, it was not of best quality since they are bootleg!

Thanks for taking the time remastering one of my fave group! If you have anymore On U Sound 12″, please consider for your future posts since they are quiet rare! Stay safe always!

I remember paying an absolute fortune for a copy of this in my local HMV store back in the day, here in Leeds, UK. If my memory serves me correctly, I think I picked up the Pet Shop Boys On-U-Sound Megamix disc at the same time. I’ve still got both of them. Amazing that a national chain sold bootlegs. Reminders of happy days. Thank you, Paul 🙂

Awesome did someone’s talk of this yesterday inspire today’s post i wonder. I too bought this in HMV (Oxford Street) around release probably around £8.99 in 1990. Guess it was an import too and only released in the USA then? Thanks, fantastic post. I probably ripped it and it’s here somewhere (maybe onto Minidisc) but the rip will be nowhere near the quality of yours!

Yes the talk about this record yesterday on Facebook did inspire this post but I had planned to post it anyway. Cheers 🙂

Quick note you have posted this as 1990 and 1991 in various places on the post!

Yeah Neil I realized that and fixed it on the post The files however show 1991 I noticed the mistake after I had already uploaded them to my server so everyone will have to correct that themselves. The release year is 1990 🙂

I remember this being an “bootleg” biggie for Erasure back in the day. It was one of the few which got into some commercial retail chains via indie vinyl distributors. Like with a promo, to see this in a Sam Goody or Tower was somewhat awe-inspiring since WEA or Sire reps could notice it. That could happen in small shops, but just didn’t happen with big stores (well, I do remember at least one Erasure ULTRA RARE TRAX CD being listed in an old Musicland/Sam Goody warehouse list, but never saw it on the floor).

Adrian Sherwood is the mixer, if memory serves. Another great in the world of Joseph Watt et al.

Oh… I am the happy owner of one of this release. You did a good job restoring it. My copy is barely mint because I’ve listened to it a lot.

    Thank you for your post!
