Burning The Ground: DjPaulT's 80's and 90's Remixes

80's and 90's 12 Inch Mixes

A Few Updates

Posted by DjPaulT on August 30th, 2014

Good Saturday everyone (or maybe already Sunday in another part of the world)! Just wanted to say hello and update you on a few things. If you look up top you will notice a change to the banner. I really like this one. I was inspired by Duran Duran, and of course, Bowie. Can you name which Duran is in the picture? Anyway it’s nice to make a change every so often. You may need to clear your browsers cache to see it. I have updated the Facebook and Twitter pages as well. Hope you like it.

The other thing I wanted to mention is Disco Friday. I think I am gonna stop them for a while and just randomly post Disco and Hi-NRG tracks instead of having a designated day. The reason is because I have noticed there is not as many page views for those posts and not as many comments. I decided that instead of spending hours on those posts when there is not much interest that I could post other things. This doesn’t mean I won’t ever post Disco. I will because I love the genre, just not every Friday.

I don’t know if any of you have been able to notice, but I have stopped using ClickRepair for about the the last six months or so. It is a great program, but it does affect the quality of sound, even when used at very low settings. Instead, I have just been manually removing all clicks and pops, and I think the rips have sounded much brighter. The manual removal of clicks and pops takes a little longer but it’s worth the time when I hear the results. I am always striving to do the best that I can.

These are just a few things that I wanted to fill you in on. It’s nice to get to talk to you all at once 🙂 Hope everybody has a great weekend. Here in the US we are celebrating Labor Day, which honors laborers and is the official end of summer. So many folks are off work on Monday.

Take care and be well,

    It’s Roger, right?

  2. musicdivaSF Says:

I think it might be Roger Taylor. 🙂 Anyway, I just want to say that I am guilty of not commenting on a lot of your posts on here and especially your Disco Friday post BUT I enjoy them all, and I look forward to all of them. As a matter of fact, I am not a Disco aficionado so I get to be introduced to a lot of your post on here. Please do continue to post Disco and Hi-NRG because it is much appreciated. Take care and enjoy this long weekend. 🙂

AWESOME banner my friend! I think it’s Roger! 😉
Nice move changing the banner and GREAT choice of you to get inspired by David Bowie’s art and DURAN-DURAN!!
Take care and keep on giving us unforgettable songs with your personal touch, technics and professional equipment!!

Firstly, thanks for uploading so much high quality great music. Ever since Vinyl Mania closed his site your site is the only place hard to find 12 inches.

You’re right about manual removing clicks and pops I find it works better than most programs.

    Happy Labor Day!!

    Peace & Blessings

OMG Paul – you’re taking out the clicks by hand!!?!?!!?!!! You must have the patience of a saint! But I guess you need to go in by hand to get the perfect results you spoil us with. 🙂

I was no fan of disco friday, I think i might have said a few times? 😀 But that’s just my taste, and I know you were posting some rare treats for everyone. I think it’ll be great to mix it all up and surprise us – remember the proposed Synthpop Tuesday from last year???? 😀 Maybe throw in a New Wave Wednesday when you feel like it. 😉

Well, I’ve just landed in time to start celebrating your Labor Weekend, already on my 2nd cocktail. 😀 Gonna go see some celebratory fireworks in an hour or so. 🙂

PS. My guess is either Roger or Simon for the new banner.

  10. Ziv Says:

Great news to hear that you moved to manual cleaning of the sound. It’s much better to do that.

    Have good weekend Paul 🙂

  11. mjb Says:

I’m glad you hand-edit the clicks. I wish all the lossless vinyl bloggers were so careful, but they tend to use ClickRepair (or similar) with way too aggressive settings, and they can’t hear the difference, so they don’t care. I don’t have a problem with using automatic tools. You just have to compare both visually and aurally to make sure that the music wasn’t affected. I personally use a combination, whatever is best for a particular section of noise.

  12. Mono Says:

While I’m not much of a fan of 70s disco, I sure love 80s Hi-NRG! In fact, these are my favourite posts here. Manual click removal is a much better alternative than automated software, your dedication towards sound quality never ceases to amaze me.

  13. Stefano Says:

Pity, I was really looking forward to your Friday posts every week. Loved those deep 70’s disco 12 inches, many of them rare and almost unheard nowadays (some disco versions completely unknown to me). Hopefully you will continue doing those!

Nice looking banner. And great to hear you delete these nasty clicks by hand. But you treated your records with much care, so I guess that won’t be lots of extra work?

  14. Ray In Australia Says:

Yeah 🙂 It’s the little dark haired drummer Roger in the banner.

Bit of a shock to hear you’re swapping to hand-removing any clicks and pops… I’ve done that many a time and it just drove me insane 🙂
I’ve got the 12″ of “The Walk” by Eurythmics (bought as near mint) and it’s got clicks and pops galore…. I’m sooo at the end of my tether with it I cannot go through with the job of removing all the noise 🙁

I hate to make requests (because you receive so many requests) but do you happen to have this one? and are you planning on it being a future up-load? I would absolutely wet myself with delight if you were 🙂

  15. Jeff Says:

Paul, what you do is phenomenally amazing. Removing clicks by hand can be so labor intensive. How do you stay sane? I know Ben Liebrand does that when he can’t find the master tapes for his Grand 12-inches series. Geez, I’m so astounded by all the work you put in on a daily basis. How do you do it? Do you ever sleep? Please know that it really is worth it. Just look at these comments from your fans. We all support and love you Paul. Always know this.

    Great respect!
    Great love!

Yeap very good stuff im not keen on disco 70s although i do like a lot of it im an 80s guy early 90s lots of stuff ava in the 80s i look fwd to looking been busy myself for a bit but i have a lot of these on my ipod or cd in the car brings back very good memories for me as well as other people

keep up the work long live the 80s lol

  17. JayDee Says:

I’ll miss disco Friday and I’m another that is guilty of not commenting. I spend a lot of time reading your write ups and other comments, get caught up in them and just forget I guess. All in all I really enjoy you posting an entire 12 inch. There are a lot of 12 Inch versions of songs that have been released somewhere on a CD but they always forget the Instrumental or Dub versions. I’m still amazed there hasn’t been a Michael Jackson collection yet with all versions.

P.S. I too de-click manually. It is tedious but can be one of those mindless repetitive jobs that relaxes me.

  18. Angel Says:

    Nice Weekend paul
    I think its also roger
    Fine Art , looks well

  19. Paul Says:

I visit your web page everyday – it is one of the small delights of the day, thanks for putting the time in –

No worries! Most of us have been very busy with life lately. I haven’t been to the site almost all summer! Boy, have I missed out on some great music! As always, keep the needle to the groove! Peace and blessings, Paul.

  24. Cory Says:

Thanks Paul! Your efforts are always greatly appreciated.

    Have a great holiday weekend!!

  25. Drain Says:

Is it Andy? Also, I know how time-consuming it is to manual delete any pops when ripping vinyl. It usually takes me about double or triple the length of any particular track to make sure I get it to my liking.

  26. Goodguy Says:

I kept thinking of different things to say, but it basically comes down to this: I love you Paul! 🙂

  27. Divo Says:

Thank you for all discs promo that we do listen to the 80s!
