“Looking For Love” is a 1986 Italo-Disco song by American singer and photographer Tom Hooker. Hooker was born Thomas Beecher Hooker on November 18, 1957, in Greenwich, Connecticut. Hooker, was brought to Europe when he was six months old. At the age of ten, he started his musical career as a drummer. At 13, he created his first band. At 15, he first appeared in public at a concert as a drummer/singer. He studied languages in Switzerland.

In 1980, he moved to Italy, where he was discovered by Italian producers. He had his first major success in 1986 with “Looking for Love”. Hooker also co-wrote and sang lead vocals on the first two Den Harrow albums, and co-wrote many subsequent Den Harrow songs under the name T. Beecher.

A music video was filmed for the song which featured American Hi-NRG singer Sinitta and Floyd from Hot Gossip.

You just read my mind. Is was looking for this quite a time.
Had the single mix of this song on an old 80s Sampler.

Would suggest – Roxanne – “Give A Little Love” as a follow up post 🙂

Italo-Disco at its best! Still have this vinyl and also the follow-up, Only One (which is ok, but nowhere near this one). Thanks for the history lesson, never knew he was American-born.
What about a Den Harrow special? He really had some excellent tunes (Charleston, Don’t Break My Heart, Future Brain…).

    Thanks for the rip!

Oh yeah, Tom Hooker (what a bad chosen name). I think this single is the best single he released in the ’80s. Bought the 7 inch in Italy in 1986. This 12 inch offers a great extended version and an excellent instrumental dub as well. Very happy you posted this Italo classic.

Did you know Tom sang all Den Harrow vocals? Den Harrow admits it too. In the ’90s Dan recorded new material on which he sang by himself, but not on the famous Italo Baby Records label anymore.

    Hi Paul,
Another great rip – many thanks!
Whilst you’re in a European-American-crossover frame of mind (please excuse the tenuous segue), any chance of posting the Pettibone mixes of Falco’s ‘Do it again’? (an American DJ remixing an Austrian rapper’s cover of an American rock song!)
    Have a great day,
    Mark Z.

How could you have never listen to it before??
It is among the most famous Italo Disco songs !!
Please check “One Shot ’80 vol. 5 and 10” for more great songs from that era.
