One of *the* *best* *songs* of the 80s, I urge everyone to hear.
I remember when it came out it just seemed like an instant classic.

John Peel famously introduced it on Top Of The Pops by saying ‘if this doesn’t get to Number One I’m gonna come round and break wind in your kitchen.’, for which there were a few complaints to the BBC, I think. 😀

I like their song Hope too, which I don’t remember from the time but have found since. Check it.

Surprised to see this on BTG, was it popular in the US or did you just unearth it yourself Paul?

    DjPaulT Reply:

I agree Jermajesty one of the best songs of the 80’s I love it! I had it put away in a box and then someone requested it so I dug it out 🙂 The song was not a hit in the US but it was played in night clubs with under ground popularity.

  4. Junior Says:

This is one of my favourite singles. I still have my copy on 12″ too.

What an anthem… and a pleasant surprise! Wylie never got his fair due. A bit grandiose at times but at others simply brilliant. Thank you as always!

  8. woz Says:

I don’t remember where I heard this song for the first time. Probably on an 80s compilation. Good song. Looking forward to hearing the mix. Thanks!

  9. Wolfie Rankin Says:

A friend tweeted a song I hadn’t heard before, and it was really good.

    Gary Numan – I Can’t Stop.

It’s amazing that an 80’s fan like myself can sometimes hear a song which
for some reason, I completely missed.

    Anyway, I thought I’d mention it. 🙂

  10. Penseur Says:

Thx for this one… never heard before…

If you have (or planed to rip it) : The Mighty Wah – come back (12″), it will be really nice! I bought this one in 7″ format in 1984…
Very special remembering of this song…

  11. Sven Says:

HolyMolyGuacamole….thank you very much. It was my request and i am very grateful. This is such a fantastic recording, and finally i can liste to it in HQ wherever i want to!

  12. Goodguy Says:

Thanks Paul. Glad to see some Wylie pop up here. I hope you consider ‘Sinful’ as another future rip. That had more than a couple 12″ releases IIRC 🙂
