Wham! – Bad Boys/Club Tropicana (Japan 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1983

A. Front
A. Front No OBI

“Bad Boys/Club Tropicana” was a 1983 single released in Japan. The single is housed in a unique picture sleeve. This record is quite cofusing due to the front cover stating “Extended Club Mix Versions” in the plural sense. However if you flip the sleeve over and look at the back cover “Extended Club Mix Version” is only listed above “Bad Boys”. There has never been an official “Extended” version of “Club Tropicana” released.

I am posting this record just to clear up the “Club Tropicana” mystery and aside from the flawless Japanese pressing the artwork is great too. I have scanned the record with the Japanese OBI strip and without so you can see the full sleeve.

Another perfect post! This week I catch myself humming all these Wham! tunes, haha. Which single do we get tomorrow Paul? Wake me up, including the rare instrumental?

Any chance you also re-rip the UK Club Fantastic and the UK Club Tropicana 12 inches with the rare instrumentals, before we move over to Wake Me Up?

I love wham! thanks for posting so much. It is crazy that remastered albums haven’t been produced with all these B Sides and the only way of hearing them is via Vinyl

    [Reply]

    DjPaulT Reply:

Well maybe it’s better that way Robert as the record labels would just mess it up.

    Thanks! Thanks! and More thanks!
Is it just me but I sense greater response and excitement everytime you do an Artist’s Megathread? Bananarama, Tina Turner and now Wham!
Club Tropicana is my favourite single off this Fantastic era (pun intended!) and so glad that you clear the mystery of the so-called Extended Versions.
btw, notice how much higher and bigger George blew his hair compared to Andy? LOL! He is obsessed with his hair!

    [Reply]

    DjPaulT Reply:

Yeah there has been a big response but I have also gotten some emails saying they are tired of it lol. You can’t please everyone eh? I was always a Andrew fan myself 🙂

  17. david Says:

There allegedly IS an extended version (or altered in some way) of “Club Tropicana”! There was a Japan only promo 12″ that included a version called the “Sound Shower Version” or something like that. I have never heard it, so I can’t say for certain, but I think it was something edited together by the Japanese record label for club play. Epic/Sony did it for other artists in their roster (Dead Or Alive’s “Flip Out Mix” in an example you have already shared), so it makes sense.

  18. NKelly Says:

Just a quick note why i came back here… The tags do not match your usual ones as there is no date in the tags as in Bad boys / Club tropicana (Japan 12″) (1983)
