Great track to detox from 2 weeks of Wham! But what a cover, hey?
Loved her orginal (remixed) version of ‘Move Closer’ too.
Didn’t know she died so young.

    Have a nice weekend, Paul.

Yeah it’s sad she is gone but she left us with some good dance music. Have a nice weekend Stefano.

  8. Martijn van Heeringen Says:

I concur with the rest above…thanks a lot Paul, the Shep P mix makes this one of the quintessential songs of the 80s, I did not have the Dub version yet! And sad to notice she is no longer living.
It somehow always makes me think of Arthur Baker with Tease Me. Any chance you have that on vinyl?

    [Reply]

    DjPaulT Reply:

Are you talking about Junie Morrison “Tease Me”? If so great track but I don’t have it at the moment it’s in my wantlist though.

    [Reply]

    Martijn van Heeringen Reply:

Yes it is Junie Morrison, Arthur Baker edit – I have it on CD and mp3 file but both are vinyl rips and not the best quality.. a good vinyl version would be a nice idea for a burningtheground exclusive!

    Martijn van Heeringen Reply:

By the way, one more (since maybe you do not have time to read wantlists)… this is another great track..I wonder if you have it?

  10. Ziv Says:

So now I still have one mix missing:

I heard back in the 80s another instrumental/dub mix with the backing vocals only.

    DjPaulT Reply:

There is an Omar Santana remix but only 100 copies were issued so it is really hard to find maybe that is it.

    [Reply]

    Jeff Reply:

I loved how you mentioned the Omar Santana mix. His frequent editing partner Carlos “After Dark” Berrios very generously shared Omar’s mix with the yahoo group Editheadz. It was produced as a way to show Omar’s talent for doing multi-edits. Almost sort of an audio advertisment for Mr. Santana’s art. It is wild and crazy. Amazing stuff when you consider that it’s bits and bits of magnetic tape cut and spliced back together in a sonic collage of frenzied sounds. Awesome stuff Paul and awesome of you to mention it here on your site. I love you as a musicologist and archivist and a person. You are such the nicest guy and you are preserving the many un-sung heroes of dance music. Not just the artists, but the mixers, remixers, editors and producers. Record companies should only follow your lead and the love you put forth.

    Hugs and Gratitude!!!

    Jeff

Strange there was no extended version. I remember back in 86 it sounded like not their strongest song although it topped the charts, but it stood the test of time to me; I have always liked this song more and more.

  12. DJ Tony Okay Says:

    Great 80s Track!

FYI In the 80s L.A. DJs would skip the vocal part, and cut right into the samples in the middle of the track after the drum roll. It was a big High Energy track. I use to spin it all the time. Thanks

    DjPaulT Reply:

This one was a regular on my table’s too. Great track!

  17. Andrew McMeekin [sometimes adam] Says:

    Fantastic choice this one !
As for ‘instrumental versions’ I have heard this track in a club where as someone mentioned they skip the ‘vocal bit’ and go straight [lol] into the ‘hey hey hey’ bits.
Some V Clever dj’s would use 3 [or more !] decks and phase between 2 copies of the same tune. When done well it’s amazing and that’s what folk used to buy Hi-Nrg tapes for.
    More like this xx !

  18. RobM88 Says:

This is one of my favorite club songs and remixes ever. I remember in the early 90s tracking this down on CD on the Club Epic series (I think the first one) and special ordering it. The lady at the music store thought I was crazy.

This was the first time I heard the “Extended Single Version” which must be similar to the album version. Wow Shep Pettibone hit a home run with this – amazing after all these years. Also, there is a very nice music video out there on YouTube which I recently saw for the first time. RIP Phyllis… I LIKE YOU!
