In the UK the single reached the #16 position while in the US it peaked at #64 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Thanks again Paul. I look forward to a few more Eurythmics 12″ singles from your good self. Apparently the 12″ single for “You Have Placed A Chill In My Heart” has a live acoustic version as well as a Dance Mix. If you’ve got that 12″ can you please add it to your list of future updates? Thanks again – all very much appreciated.

Thank you, Paul! A friend of mine owned this single back in college and I had a mix tape recording of it. It has been a long time since I’ve had a functional cassette player, so it will be a pleasure to hear it again.

You Have Placed A Chill and Shame are my two favourite singles from this era.
This final single released in the UK turned out to be the biggest!
I do think this should’ve been the first single from Savage. Beethoven was too eclectic for mainstream acceptance.
Thanks for this rare 7″ in lossless, Paul!
    Happy Thanksgiving my friend!

    DjPaulT Reply:

I agree Ric I love to listen to Beethoven 🙂 but it was a little eclectic for mainstream radio. Oh but I love all of the themed videos for this album 🙂

  9. Vermillion Says:

Another great post! A classic single from one of the best bands of the 1980s. Surprised it didn’t do better on the US charts as it’s probably the most radio-friendly track on Savage.

The Chill Mix was only officially released on the US cassette single I think, so is difficult to get hold of. Essentially it’s an edit of the Dance Mix that appeared on the 12″ single, which is also pretty good. Thanks again Paul!

    DjPaulT Reply:

You’re welcome Vermillion. The “Chill Mix” was also released officially as a domestic 7″ too along with the cassette and 7″ promo.

I agree with the earlier post…I think this would have done better as the first single! Thanks for this…Eurythmics have so many rare alterative or remixes…the could make another full box set.

This is super awesome! I am having some issues with my computer and won’t be able to replace it until next month, so I will be in an out a little as things work and then don’t work. Regardless, know that I am still grateful, even if you don’t hear from me. Happy Holidays, Paul. And stay well as you go through your crazy-ass weather 🙂
