Thanks for this – was my favourite track of the album also (but all the rest were great also) Do you have much Shalamar? Do you have Dead Giveaway – i heard the 12″ was different to the LP mix as didn’t have the guitar solo in it – cannot find it on any of their compilations though.

hi Joe247 i’m pretty sure that I have “dead Giveaway” in a box here someplace I will try to track it down.

Thanks – it does get like that! I’ve gota lot of vinyl & Cd’s and sometimes you forget what you’ve got and where it is. Big mistake I made was clearing out a lot a few years back to make room – wish I’d kept some in hindsight and put them in the attic!

    Great post, Paul!
Love this song by Jody, and miffed that it was released so late!
Possibly Jody’s “poppiest” moment, probably due to the Leonard and Cole connection. And I can so imagine Madonna singing this too in 1987!
Kevorkian really does amazing remixes with Jody’s songs.

    DjPaulT Reply:

I am so glad that Madonna didn’t sing this song because then we would never have gotten to hear Miss Watley sing it. One of her best singles that should have charted much higher. Seems like I remember Madonna and Jody had a bit of a rival on who had the most #1 ance singles back then. If I remember correctly Jody won.

One of the best remixes from the singles taken from her debut solo eponymous album. The remixes are totally different and reconstruction from the original album track. Superb! *thumbs up* – Chwee

I have recently been exposing my 16 year old niece to the fashion icon-ness of Ms. Watley. It’s great to see a new generation being as awestruck with her videos today.
