BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1978

DISCO FRIDAY!

Released in 1978 by Casablanca records. Halleljuah 2000 was a one off single produced by Joe Long and Bobby Adcock. Recorded by a choir of Casablanca Recording artists with vocals by Pat Hodges of the soul/R&B group Hodges, James, and Smith who recorded for London Records.

Also of note is the banjo soloist, one of the guys that performed “Dueling Banjo’s” for the movie Deliverance. Orchestral parts are performed by the LA Philharmonic Orchestra. Mixed at Sigma Sound NYC.

Halleljuah 2000 is an epic 14 minute disco version of Handel’s wonderful composition with a disco beat. Beautiful chorus and orchestration. Enjoy!

Forgive me for this, Paul, but rarities are not always worth having. (and I’m saying this because I own a copy of this 12″). According to me -always- this is one of the worst disco singles I unfortunately own. I hate the vocal, but I can live with the instrumental. When I bought this -not many years ago- I hadn’t heared of it before. I noticed it had a Joe Long production, Richie Rivera was credited too, and it was a Casablanca 12″, so I bought it (I rarely make such mistakes). I was so disappointed when I played it, that I stashed this 12″ away, so I can forget it. I’m sure there are going to be a lot of people who like it, and I respect them, but I had to get this out of my system and express my true opinion. So please don’t mind me Paul, and keep up what you’re doing. Glad you’re back and fit!

George E. everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I appreciate that. I myself really like this 12″ it just makes me feel good 🙂 The thing I love about the disco era is that anything goes. I do agree with you that I also prefer the instrumental. I knew when I was ripping it that many readers would not be familiar with it. That’s part of what I enjoy about posting rarities it opens up everyone’s mind and exposes them to new things. 🙂

I forgot all about this single. Two friends of mine played a three-handed keyboard solo on this; I don’t remember them having any especially interesting tidbits about it. It was definitely a job for them versus a “moment.” OK, not much of a story but — as always — I appreciate your sharing and taking such care with the sounds.

Wow I remember when this was released…Yet some how had amnesia concerning it. I don’t remember it on any of the Casablanca CD compilations. They wouldn’t the same running times, nor both 14 min versions any. Thanks DjPaulT.

Wow, ‘anything goes’ is 100% on the mark here. Casablanca was fearless and shameless in equal parts. Anyway, I think I like this! Thank you, Paul!!
