The song was the third track on the album and was the fourth track from the album to become a single, which reached number 4 in the US and number 14 in the UK in late 1986. It made number 8 in the Netherlands. The music was written by the band, while the lyrics were written by guitarist Mike Rutherford.

The song’s video featured puppets from the 1980s UK sketch show Spitting Image.

Just to say thanks for all these rare versions of tracks you keep posting (in top quality I might add!) Have discovered so many versions didn’t know existed and being a bit of a collector its great to find these. The Bruce Cover me mixes was another great find!
Don’t know if you ever repost but would love to get Bee Gees – The Woman In You / Saturday Night Mix (UK 12″) as link gone. Do you also have Shalamar – Dead Giveaway 12″ as different mix which can’t get anywhere & John Rocca – I want it to be real ?
Once again – thanks for your hard work.

    DjPaulT Reply:

Hi Sarah I have the Shalamar and John Rocca 12″ singles and I will do my best to post them in the future. I can’t make any promises on how soon it will be. I am planning to re-rip and repost that Bee Gees 12″ at some point as well.

Many thanks Paul for another stellar post both for ripping quality and for the choice of the record.
This is the only place (together with the the 7” promo) to find the Remix Edit of Land Of Confusion, which is the version of the song they kept performing live from then on.

  8. musicfan Says:

Paul, I wonder if you have ever seen or heard the 12 inch version of Phil Collins’ classic song Two Hearts?

I’ve never heard it. If you can find and upload the 12 inch I’ll be very grateful. 🙂

  9. Jermajesty Says:

Can’t beat a bit of Phil. Thanks. 🙂

I was lucky enough to be just 1 row back from the stage at his TV special ‘One Night Only…’ – he’s got the *smallest* hands I’ve ever seen on a man. 😀

Assume you know the Alcazar version of this song BTW? Great mash-up with Di Ross. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t65NQg6iXDw

  10. Don Says:

I just discovered this site. I didn’t think it was possible for vinyl rips to sound this good. You have a true gift! I recently bought the Icehouse 12″ compilations from Germany… those have a few vinyl sourced mixes on them and they don’t sound NEARLY as good as what you have achieved here. It’s truly amazing.

So glad to have these 12″ mixes from Genesis, Peter Gabriel, and the astonishingly awesome 12″ promo of Midnight Oil’s “Beds are Burning.” THANK YOU!

  11. Junior Says:

One of my favourite Genesis singles.

    Thanks Paul 🙂
