Interesting Couple Of Days

Posted by DjPaulT on September 12th, 2012

Well it’s been an interesting last couple of days. Starting on Monday, after I finished the Giorgio Moroder post, I felt a really hard fluttering in my chest, which lasted for about 10 seconds. Afterward I felt like I was going to faint, and then I felt unwell. I called my doctor and asked if I should be concerned and they advised me to go to the emergency room. I took their advice and went. Once I arrived, the doctors did several tests, blood work, x-ray, EKG. The latter test showed an abnormality and they decided to admit me into the hospital for overnight observation. On Tuesday I had to do a stress test and more blood work. Finally on Tuesday afternoon the doctors concluded that all of my tests were normal. I was discharged from the hospital. It was a pretty scary event, but I am happy that I am back home and it was not anything severe. I do however have to wear a heart monitor for the next 30 days. If this event happens again they will have it recorded. I am going to rest up today and I will have a new post for you on Thursday.

Cheers,

Paul

Oh please Paul, take ALL the rest you need and forget about adding new posts this week! Your health is much more important than your blog, really.

Happy to read that your tests were normal in the end. Pretty scary experience. Hopefully the heart monitor will show no abnormality in the upcoming 30 days.

    Take care!
    Regards, Stefano.

    Paul

I hope this was indeed, nothing, and you are up once again soon.

BTW, right after I saw the Moroder update on my feed, I went to get it and found the site was down. I realized later that it probably was related to the GoDaddy crash in some way, but in a very strange way, both the site and you had scares at the same time.

Cheers, and keep up the great work (much, much appreciated)

Paul maybe you had an anxiety attack. I get those sometimes. In anycase u should take a baby aspirin every day preferably before bed whether u need it or not. Ask your doctor if it’s okay. I do it all the time. Glad to know you’re feeling better.

    Hi Paul,

It could be an anxiety attack, I had this 5 years ago and then taken SSRI medicine advised by a doctor. I can tell you it works and also keep doing exercise and your body weight. Anyway hope you are well too.

    cheers

    Paul

Something like that happened to me earlier this year.
I wear a heart monitor most of the time too, and nothing else has happened (as yet).
I was told it was ‘just a glitch’, they happen sometimes.

Rest as much as possible and we’ll see you when you feel up to it.

    Take care

Paul, sounds very similar to something that happened on a few occasions to me a couple of years back. Felt like heart palpitations but I did the heart monitor thing and other tests. Never totally got the bottom of it all but I think it was linked to my stomach! Do you suffer from acid reflux or stomach pains at all?

Hello Paul, I am a 47 year old male and when I was 18 I was having heart palpitations and sometimes they were so strong and fast I too would feel faint. I went to the Doctor and was dignosed with having Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome or WPW for short. Here is info from the mayo clinic. If your doctor didn’t mention it you may bring it up at your next visit. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/wolff-parkinson-white-syndrome/DS00923

    Hi Paul,

Glad to hear that your tests turned out well, the same thing happened to me back in May, I went to the emergency room and they did all the same tests, I didn’t get the heart monitor though but I was put on some medications. I can totally relate to your situation and I can imagine how you must have felt, it was a very scarry.

Glad to know that you are feeling better and hope to see you back to your regular self soon. Thanks for everything.

    Hi Paul,
The exact same thing happened to me in April 2011. I thought I was having a heart attack. Turns out, it was my gall bladder, which I had removed in May. Since then, nothing like this has happened since. If you still have yours, it couldn’t hurt to have it checked out.

    Take care,
    Paul

SO glad that you’re fine, but do keep listening to your body and monitoring your condition, Paul.
Stress is indeed one of the main culprits for a lot of our modern day illnesses. So try to lower your stress level, and doing some meditation before you sleep and after you wake up will surely help your overall health. Don’t need for anything fancy or mystic. Just some quiet alone time to focus on your deep breathing and just your “being”.
Take care and don’t rush into getting back to your postings. Health comes first!

    Paul,

Had a similar experience myself last July while visiting NYC and spent the night in Bellevue. What an experience! My EKG was abnormal and suggested a heart attack (MI). Turned out I have what is called a tilted axis which causes the abnormal EKG which is normal for me. I now carry a copy of my EKG so that I can show it to whoever made need to see it so that they know what is normal for me. Talking about this experience I discovered 2 friends with similar variants and in fact it was one of them that suggested I can a copy of my EKG with me. Stay healthy!

Get better, Paul! I had a similar condition (SVT) arise a couple years ago that required me to go to the ER multiple times, wear a heart monitor, etc. Eventually, I had an ablation on my heart and it hasn’t happened since, though I do have light flutters every once in a while. Definitely scary when you’re heart is out of whack. Rest up and feel better!

    Hey Paul:

Glad to hear you’re doing better. I had a similar experience late last year. I would have strange flutters, like that feeling you get when you go over a huge drop on a roller coaster. Turns out I was hitting the Coke Zero a little too much. Too much caffeine and not enough H2O. That plus some stress with family and work combined started taking it’s toll. I’ve made a few adjustments to my diet and I haven’t had an issue since.

Keep us posted on your progress. Thanks again for the tunes too. One of these days, I’ll start a blog like you and share some of my rarities I’ve collected over the years… = )

Sorry to hear that. Must’ve been scary i can’t imagine. I hope it gets sorted and you can somehow find out what happened. Your work here is so valuable to all. It’s a shame that you can’t post more on a normal basis but i only say that cause i look forward EVERYDAY to seeing your latest post and am disappointed when there isn’t one. You have posted some fantastic stuff over the years and it’s appreciated. It’s a pity that you don’t live on this side of the pond. I have so much vinyl although i doubt it’s as pristine as much as the stuff that you post anyway. I am a big fan of many groups one of whom include Tears For Fears. I loved the recent post of ‘Change’ and was surprised to learn that i’ve never heard of either of those two mixes that you posted. They can’t be on any TFF CD to date or at least that i know of. You fill so many of the gaps that the record companies constantly fail to deliver on. Thank you for your continued posts they are much loved.
