Hi DJ Paul..thanks so much for these alternate versions…all I have is the movie soundtrack on cassette.
Hey Paul, I see that you stopped adding the Cashbox info. ¿Too hard to find info. from them?

I checked Matracas – “King Of Wishful Thinking” also peaked at #8 in Cashbox the week of Aug. 18, 1990.
And thank you for this one, Paul! I had never heard these remixes before. Just curious, since we’re in the middle of a Go West series, are you planning on doing their song, “Faithful”? I don’t know if it ever had a 12″ single, but I’m going to guess it did. Always liked that one and wondered if an extended version existed.

Hi dan thanks for the cashbox info. There is a 12″ for “Faithful” but not an extended version so I never bought that one.

That Pretty Woman soundtrack is pretty awesome, and Lauren Wood’s belated and re-recorded Fallen is the understated gem.
So glad Go West finally scored a well-deserved Top 10 in the US with this, and the mixes are great! Thanks Paul!
Little trivia about this song…
In 1989, Go West were working in the US, and Richard was talking about the ’88-’89 period when they haven’t managed to get any record out (mostly due to corporate changes). Still, Richard said “We’ll be fine. We are the kings of wishful thinking.” Peter jumped on that and thought it was a good turn of the phrase, and it led to the writing of the song, which is basically about being positive when things aren’t going your way.
Happy weekend, Paul!

Thanks again for Go West Week! Love the first album but never got the Bangs & Crashes version, so these mixes were all new to me but well worth the wait.

Thanks for the rip! I bought the cd single the other day thinking the Jon Gass US 12″ Mix was the same and it is NOT…it is about 11 seconds shorter than the vinyl “Club Mix” and essentially just removes the stuttering effects you hear at (on your 12″) at 1:08 and 2:12-2:24 and 3:08! I hate when Labels do this…label the mixes so close, the times so close, and then remove the coolest parts. What was the purpose?! Anyway…thanks again!

Thanks Paul. Just reading the post above, I will check this mix against the “Jon Gass US 12″ Mix” on my vinyl copy once I’ve downloaded it.
