Scritti Politti – Perfect Way (US 12″ Promo)

Posted by DjPaulT on March 9th, 2012

“Perfect Way” was only a minor hit when released in the UK (#48) but it became the band’s biggest US single. “Perfect Way” entered the US Billboard Top 40 on October 26, 1985. The song remained on the chart for thirteen weeks peaking at #11.

Special note about this single: The version of “Perfect Way” on the ‘A’ side is unique and otherwise unreleased – it is different to the Kevorkian mix released on the standard UK/German 12″ singles and is longer than the US 12″ single version mixed by Alan Meyerson, Francois Kevorkian and Josh Abbey (AKA Committee). The time listed on the label is incorrect the actual duration is 7:21.

oh, this is interesting! Wasn’t aware this version existed. I wonder if it’s a combination edit of the different mixes, hence ‘committee’? Thanks again, Paul 🙂

    You’re welcome Disco D!

I didn’t know of this mix (being longer mostly and minor instrumentation changes)…awesome rip! Do you have the other mixes/12″s? Thanks again for an awesome quality conversion!

I too know of this version, but to have it is Paul-quality…wooo yes! (I only have the commercial UK 12″). Thanks for the weekend treat, Paul!
Cupid & Psyche ’85 is one of the best albums of that year, and one of the very first pop albums to incorporate electro & electronics. Kylie Minogue’s Body Language was apparently inspired by this album.
I love all the 5 singles from this album, with The Word Girl my tip for the top. Even the album tracks are very strong songs.
    Happy weekend, Paul!
