To many this song, and the movie it appears in, is THE “defining moment” of what the 80s were about. Yea I have to admit hearing it brings a smile to my face! What an absolutely incredible band they were. I’m very happy to have this extended mix…big thanks!!!

Beebyte you’re welcome OMD is one of my favorite bands and “Pretty In Pink” one of my favorite movies 🙂

Paul, great tune – and yes – that movie did define at least my generation. So much teenage angst! The Pretty In Pink soundtrack is superb – hoping to see a post of the extended version of New Order’s “Shellshock” from PIP one day. Thanks again matey.

  3. Gilbert Gonzales Says:

One of my fave 80s New Wave music. As always, thank you.

    You’re welcome Omar!

Bought this 12″. Bought the soundtrack. Saw the movie. I really contributed to this Pretty In Pink “franchise” in 1986! LOL!
Didn’t produce any #1 singles like the other 80s soundtracks, but the tracklist is almost flawless. Nik Kershaw, The Smiths, New Order and Suzanne Vega…can’t go wrong!
And I’m glad the movie gave OMD their deserved success in the US!
    Thanks for your rip, Paul!

    DjPaulT Reply:

You’re welcome Ric. I also contributed to this movie bought the 12″, soundtrack, saw the movie more than once. I think I even had a “Pretty In Pink” poster in my room lol. Brings back great memories.

Many thanks DjPaul and for taking the time to do these in 24bit, my squeezebox touch says thanks also!

  7. Fred Says:

Thanks for the great rip! I never liked the part 2:47-3:01…I think the elements just don’t match and seems like some newbie DJ tried to mix in another song poorly. 🙂

  8. ecgn Says:

Absolutely brilliant tracks. Thanks for doing this for all of us who weren’t able to buy the records back in the day! 🙂

However, am I the only one getting a CRC error unpacking track 1 in the FLAC bundle?

    ecgn Reply:

Ahhh… re-download solved the problem. First time that happened with a RAR for me.

Thanks again for the high-quality stuff you have here!

  9. Deidemo Says:

Thank you so much ! Such a beautiful song…

  10. Chwee Says:

    Interestingly, I just saw OMD in Singapore on 10 March. I am so glad I went to catch them, deciding only to do so on that day itself. It was a superb show, and I would suggest that you go too if OMD comes to your city! The crowd went wild with So In Love, Secret and If You Leave! ;-}

  11. Martijn van Heeringen Says:

Indeed a great 12 inch – for the real audiophiles the So 80s (so eighties) collection of Blanc & Jones also has this one on CD – for fans worth to check it out!

  12. Greatstuffbut Says:

Fantastic collection but what on earth is going on with your high frequencies???

There is major distortion on all the “s” sounds in vocals.

For instance, listen at 2:08 in OMD – If You Leave (Extended). Also in Madonna – Everybody (Extended Remix) at 1:38. Also in Icehouse – Electric Blue (12″ version) at 1:17.

It’s everywhere. Something isn’t right in your audio chain and / or processing.
