Sting – Love Is The Seventh Wave (UK 12″)

BURNING THE GROUND EXCLUSIVE 1985

BTG week of LOVE!

“Love Is the Seventh Wave” was the second single and second track from Sting’s 1985 solo debut album The Dream of the Blue Turtles. The song is supposedly about love being the seventh wave, or the strongest wave in a series of waves, thus wiping out any sort of problems. It concludes with a brief, self-mocking reference to Sting’s biggest hit song with The Police, “Every Breath You Take”, which had been about the dark side of love that leads to sexual jealousy and obsession.
The single contained a different mix of the song than the album mix, as well as a live version of “Consider Me Gone.”

“Love Is The Seventh Wave” debuted in the US Billboard Top 40 on November 23, 1985. The song remained in the top 40 for seventeen weeks peaking at #9.

Adam I could go on and on and on lol. There are lots of songs with “LOVE” in the title. I decided just to it the week of valentines Day. Although we should keep love with us all of the time 🙂 I know I’m cheesy lol.

    Hey Paul

Having lots of trouble downloading anything from your site now. It started with the PSB post and I’ve now tried all the other downloads since and can’t open any of them.

I have tried downloading using Safari, Firefox and Google Chrome and they all download OK, but when I try to open them and use the password I get a message saying: “An error occurred attempting to expand /Users/conradzimmer/Downloads/liswm.rar. The structure of the archive is damaged (Error #17540)”

    Any thoughts??

    DjPaulT Reply:

Conrad what are you using to unpack the .rar files? Haven’t had any other complaints. Make sure you are letting the download finish completely. If you are on a Mac I suggest using unrarx with unrarx you have to put the password in before you extract.

Thanks for the post. I don’t supposed you have Sting’s “If You Love Somebody (Set Them Free)” with the amazing Brothers in Rhythm Soundtrack mix? I think its on the Cowboy Song single release.

    DjPaulT Reply:

Hi Darryl I don’t have that one. But now you got me looking for it 🙂

  11. ScratchP Says:

Sting has had a ton of non-album songs and mixes. I wish he would release an official compilation of them but he just put out a three-disc collection that once again ignores them, so who knows when we’ll get something like that.

    DjPaulT Reply:

ScratchP and with CD’s disappearing if they do release something it more than likely will not be in Lossless format.

  13. JohanErikson Says:

Thanks a lot for this one – as far as I know the “new mix” is unreleased on cd. There are some real gems in the vinyl world of Sting, like the If you love somebody 12″ with two remixes (the Torch song remix is rare)and hard-to-find track Another day, and the They dance alone 12″ with even rarer track If you there So if you have any of those, hint hint…

  14. Martijn van Heeringen Says:

I was just listening to the single version and thought where can I find the 12 inch if it is there? Google turned up with your site, that I visit weekly! I must have missed this post, thanks a lot! Sting became incredibly BORING after the Police but there are exceptions! This song is 10 out of 10!
Which brings me to another thing DJPAul: do you have the wonderful If you love someone set them free (Jellybean mix)?
    Regards
    Martijn
