Just a minor correction…Street Beat was released as a single between her two albums, “Over My Head” was the actual first single from her second album (Street Beat was featured on the album but was released almost a year before the album). Also Street Beat did not chart on the top 100. “Over My Head” was her last top 100 entry coming in at 81.

Keep up the good work…been waiting for this one.

Thank you Jon for letting me know Wikipedia is not always reliable. In any case I have corrected the info here also. I am planning to post “Time After time”, “Suspense” and “Do You Wanna Dance” in the near future but cannot find any info on them do you happen to know any of the facts about any of these singles? If so please email it to me I would really appreciate it.

    Jon Reply:

Do You Wanna Dance was a UK (and a few other European countries) only release, the last single she released (excluding various Mickey remixes). Suspense was the second (and last in the US) single from “Toni Basil”. “Time After Time” was not released in the US but it was released in some European countries and Australia.

    Jon Reply:

All these sings flopped when released although “Suspense” went to no. 8 on the dance charts. Toni made only videos for “Over My Head” and “Suspense”.

Yeah, I was going to mention I don’t remember Streat Beat (interesting song btw), but I do remember Mickey, Shopping A to Z, and Over My Head. Over My Head was my favorite of her singles.

If you haven’t seen the version of this that Toni performed live (and yes, actually sang live while dancing!) on the Smothers Brothers show – you should, despite the fact it’s pretty low-resolution:

I just wish they’d had good handsfree/headset wireless microphones for her so her dancing wasn’t encumbered by holding the stick mike!
