Donna Summer – Eyes (UK 12″)

Posted by DjPaulT on November 8th, 2011

“Eyes” is the third and final single from the album Cats Without Claws by Donna Summer. Edited in length from the original version on the album, the single peaked at No. 97 for one week on the UK charts.

A remix of the calypso-ish “I’m Free” from the Cats Without Claws album was included on the B-side of the UK release of the “Eyes” 12″ single. “I’m Free” was performed by Donna and her back-up band on a Dick Clark’s American Bandstand 1984 Christmas special and Soul Train, indicating that this had originally been intended to be the next single.

Oh wow, DjPaulT – you’ve made another of my dreams come true with this one! I did not know there were TWO remixes by Jellybean on here, and your rip just sounds so fantastic! Thank you so much!!! =)

    DjPaulT Reply:

You’re welcome Martymartymarty glad I was able to do it =) The “I’m Free” mix is exclusive to this 12″.

Thank you so much Paul! This costs a fortune on eBay and Gemm and I was this close buying this! You just saved me a lot of money! 😉

    DjPaulT Reply:

Antonios yes this one does cost a bit of money and is usually hard to find in Near Mint condition.

    Hey Dj Paul
Thank you so much for this. Love this song and as always your rip is as clean and pure as a snowflake. BTW it’s me that keeps bugging you about a rip of Donna Summer’s All Systems Go 12 inch remix, hope I haven’t been too obnoxious.

    DjPaulT Reply:

No worries Bob I am working on it. One of these day it may just magically appear 🙂

  6. Jon Says:

Amazing…thanks I was waiting for this. PS the sleeve is incorrect…the version of “It’s Not the Way” is the same as the LP version…I think it meant to say original versions of “Eyes” and “I’m Free” from Cats without Claws.

  7. Piotrvladimir Says:

    Very good song.
Rips of Donna’s 12″ are always great presents.

  8. Richard Says:

Paul, are you serious? I mentioned this 12″ in my comments for your “Supernatural Love” upload recently and now here it is.

I bought 12″ back in 08′ for a reasonable price from ebay and was suprised and elated to find the bonus remix of “I’m Free” on the B side, since I wasn’t aware of that fact before purchasing it. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, “Cats without Claws” is a terribly underrated effort form Donna and the remixes found on this “Eyes 12 inch” I believe, makes that point even more valid.

MANY THANKS Paul for the beautiful and meticulous rip, this is one to cherish.

  9. Gianni Says:

This is a very clean rip of a much sought after Donna Summer import. Great to have this in FLAC format, too. Many thanks for a job well down.

“Cats Without Claws” should have made a bigger dent on the charts. I remember listening to it for the first time, and I thought a lot of the tracks were potential hits. Lack of promotion, maybe? Or that “rumour” issue? Who knows….

Paul, I’m hoping you’ll repost “She Works Hard for the Money” in FLAC format. I’m dying to do a re-edit of that song, but I need a clean rip of the instrumental to do so. I’ll keep my fingers (and toes) crossed 🙂

    Jon Reply:

The rumor issue killed it…plus I think the terrible remix of “Supernatural Love” should not have been the second single…it should have been “It’s Not the Way” or “Oh Billy Please”

    Gianni Reply:

“It’s Not The Wiay” is a great track. Maybe I’ll do a remix of it.

  10. jbird Says:

Thanks much, Paul — and please keep the Donna Summer rarities comin’!

  11. ric Says:

Love the hypnotic beat chugging along nicely here…a sparse but seductive remix by Jellybean.
Don’t we love these 80s remixes? No need to be too cluttered or frantic or over-produced to be effective, but still sleek and polished!
    Thanks Paul!

  13. John Says:

OH HELL YES! This is fantastic!

  14. Brad Says:

Hey I know the Megauploads aren’t working anymore but is there anyway to re-upload the Donna Summer 12″ you’ve done – This one & Love Is In Control. I tried to download but can’t tell if Megaupload is just gone or is slow. If you can’t totally understand but I’ve been looking for these – you never disappoint. I love this site.

    DjPaulT Reply:

Hi Brad links have been fixed I will get to the other single as soon as I can. Enjoy 🙂
