Paul, thanks for the B-side! Unavailable on CD, it's really about time for a decent remaster of this album...

There are a few versions of the 12" mix.

1. First of all you have the 'Blooded' 8:28 minute version. This is the mix which was released in 1985 on vinyl, and which Paul has ripped here. This mix contains the spoken intro. First it's Grace ('This is what Edith Piaf used to say, use your faults, use you defects, then you're gonna be a star'). Next comes in introducer no. 1 ('Ladies and gentlemen, Miss Grace Jones, Jones, slave to the rhythm'). At 0:30 introducer no. 2 comes in and explains the origin of Grace Jones ('She's born in Jamaica, raised in America, and she was really an American girl with Jamaican habits').
In 1994 this version gets its first release on CD. The track was remixed in 1994 and the 'Blooded' version was added to the CD-single (ZTT ZANG 50 - CD 1).

2. In 1998 Island Records/Universal released the 2-disc anthology 'Private Life: The Compass Point Sessions'. Although being the only track not recorded in the Compass Point Studios during 1980-1982, the compilation contains a slightly different mix of the track, here renamed to 'Hot Blooded Version' (8:19). It starts off directly with introducer no. 1 ('Ladies and gentlemen, Miss Grace Jones, slave to the rhythm'). At 0:21 instead of the second introducer coming in, we hear Grace starting to sing her first line ('Slave to the rhythm.... aah, baby'). The rest of the mix is the same as the 'Blooded' version. This version is actually my favourite.

3. The third version is of course the full length album version, the original LP version that is to say - oddly titled 'Ladies And Gentlemen: Miss Grace Jones' (5:56). This version, only released on CD in the US, has a 'clean' intro without any additional comments. It also contains slightly alternate vocals and, compared to the single edit, an unedited outtro. At 5:03 the song formally ends; the last 53 seconds contains interview parts.
